Checkout 5.0 is offering major enhancements including a major technology upgrade:

The first version of Checkout that is 64-bit, you will notice an immediate all around performance boost especially when using macOS 10.14 Mojave.
For our USA customers we are excited to announce EMV card machine support (VeriFone VX-520 configured by Forte Payments).
Support for the new Star Micronics TSP143III line of receipt printers which support WiFi, Bluetooth, LAN and USB.
Emailing of Sales documents
Duplicating of Quotes, Orders, Invoices and Purchases.
Loyalty discount and scanning of a customer bar code to select a customer
Minor fixes for macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) and macOS 10.14 (Mojave)
Importing has been completely revamped, we have much more robust importing and you can now also import Suppliers, and we also import more attributes for Products.
Checkout now requires at least macOS 10.9.

Application Components

Feature: Checkout is now a 64-bit app, allows Checkout to use more memory and and gives an overal performance boost.
Feature: 50 of our User Interface elements have been upgraded to native Mac OS components, faster screen drawing as result.
Feature: All major 3rd party components have been upgraded to latest stable releases, some of them give extra performance.
Feature: Our database library was updated to latest release.
Feature: We added support for Google Crashlytics which allows us to better deal with unknown crashes and allows us to quicker address them.
Fixed: Smaller tweaks to better support MacOS 10.12 Sierra and MacOS 10.13 High Sierra

General User Interface:

Feature: Better way dealing with copy and pasting in most of the text fields, so that for example return characters are filtered for those specific fields.
Feature: Actions in the Menubar work much more what is expected from a modern macOS app.
Feature: General input fields save the data in more convenient way, no tab out or return required to change the data.

Client Inspector

Feature: Website Field has been added and you can import and export the data.
Feature: Notes fields has now scrollbar so you add more content.
Feature: Has now 2 extra Loyalty Fields, Whole Store discount and a barcode. You would be able to give a loyalty card to a customer and with barcode, the client can be scanned on order. You can scan in a bar code on to the client record that will be used for future sales to a client where you can simply scan the code to enter the customer details and add any percent discount that might be set up.
Feature: Client List shows now when Customer has a Discount shows a small checkmark on its icon, same for company.
Feature: Search is now smarter it can handle accents in a more friendly way, for example search for Jose will find also José and vice versa.

Export

Feature: Proposed file name for export has now more appropriate name, instead of just 'Untitled'.
Removed: You can not export to numbers files format anymore because this was broken for many years because Apple latest version does not support the original file format anymore.
Feature: 2 extra Loyalty Fields, Whole Store discount and a barcode are exported.

Forte Credit Card Processing (USA Only):

Feature: You are now able to toggle off the Debit Card payment option, to force cashier to only use the Credit Card processor.
Feature: EMV Card machine support, the popular VeriFone VX-520 device (configured by Forte Payments), allows your customers to easier pay securely with their EMV Credit Cards (Cards with a chip).
Feature: When you look at the history of Order, Sale and Invoice we are now showing the Authorization Code for Processed Credit Card transactions.
Fixed: Better support for the Credit Card swiper.
Fixed: Memory leak fixed during the processing of an online payment.

Import

Feature: You can now import Suppliers.
Feature: You can now stop import and no data changes will have been applied to your store.
Feature: When import goes wrong the whole data import is cancelled and no changes will have been made to your store.
Feature: When import goes wrong we tell now which row of the file caused the issue.
Feature: When import finishes we tell now in more detailed way how many items in the store were changed and how many of the imported rows were not causing any changes.
Feature: Import is going about 3x faster.
Feature: When important fields are empty on customers or vendors, like "last name" we import them as Untitled [number]
Feature: 2 extra Loyalty Fields, Whole Store discount and a barcode are now imported on customers.
Fixed: Various user interface MacOS X High Sierra warnings in the log file have been fixed.
Fixed: When import is in progress you can not close window.
Fixed: Progress bar of import is now updating correctly.
Fixed: Better support for csv and tsv files, especially with documents that had missing columns at certain rows.

Import Products

Feature: We now support the import of a lot more product attributes: weight, tags, minimum stock, webstore stocks settings, type, etc...
Feature: We now have options to automatically generate a unique product code. Product code is still a required column but it will use name as a basis in case the value is missing.
Feature: We have more auto field mapping with headers from other sources like Shopify CSV file.
Feature: When a required field isn't selected, it will scroll now to that particular the field.

Invoice

Feature: You can now see and use a shipping discount.

Main Window

Feature: We automatically recognize Checkout 4 databases and on first install ask for importing Checkout 4.0 databases. You can run Checkout 4 and Checkout 5 on the same computer while trying out the new release.

Manager - Product:

Behavior Change: When changing the values from a Parent Product of a variation, it will in some occasions also change the values of its underneath variations, for example change price, tags, type, brand. This was very unexpected for many users, this is removed now. When you want to change all variations at once, use the select all variations and change the attributes you want to change to the same value. Checkout supports multiple selection changes for Products and Customers.
Feature: Type and Brand field have now a smarter auto complete that is case insensitive and handles characters with accents.
Feature: When selecting multiple products, you can now update the Description for all those products at once.
Feature: Tags can now contain spaces.
Feature: Faster loading for stores that have thousands of products.
Feature: Search is now smarter it can handle accents in a more friendly way, for example search for Jose will find also José and vice versa.
Fixed: Copy and pasting text into the tags field now deals better with converting them to tags.
Fixed: Brand and Type popup menus are better filtering out deleted ones.

Manager - Supplier:

Feature: Search is now smarter it can handle accents in a more friendly way, for example search for Jose will find also José and vice versa.

Manager - Window:

Fixed: Any field that is being edited will be committed when you switch to a different window.

Order/Sale/Quote

Feature: You are now able to set a Default Discount on an order/sale/quote, any item (Product/Shipping) you will add to this order/sale/quote will get by default this discount applied. When you set/change the Default Discount on existing order, all the current items on the order will be get this new discount applied.
Feature: When creating a sale and clicking Checkout to accept a payment, you'll now see an Email option alongside the Print option. You can also email your quotes, orders and invoices using the new email icon on the bottom of the sales windows. Checkout works with most email clients including Mac Mail, Outlook, Entourage, Airmail, Mailplane, Sparrow and MailMate.
Feature: Shipping can now also have a discount.
Feature: Customers that have a Loyalty Discount will get this Discount set automatically on any new order for that customer.
Feature: Duplicate Quotes, Orders, Sales and Invoices - You can now create a copy of a Order, Sale or Invoice. Choose the transaction in your list of sales and invoices and choose Duplicate from the Edit menu. Once a duplicate is made, you can change the sale including items, customer, pricing, etc.
Feature: Duplicate a Line on Quotes, Orders, Invoices and Purchases - by selecting a line on a transaction, you can choose Duplicate from the Edit menu to create a copy of the selected line.

Payment Window:

Feature: The payment option chosen will be reselected the next time you come to the payment window.
Feature: Return key is now also used to accept the amount, before only Enter key was supported.
Feature: After accepting a payment on an open invoice, Checkout will display Print, Email and New Order options before leaving the invoice.

Printing Receipts:

Feature: Total taxed amount is not repeated anymore behind the tax rate in case it is the same as the subtotal. This is for Orders, Invoices and regular Receipts.
Fixed: Memory leaks during printing have been fixed
Fixed: All templates (Regular printer + Receipt Printers) were updated so that large numbers don't wrap over multiple lines in case of total taxes amount.

Reports:

Feature: Super fast export of reports, after rending the report the export feature now takes advantage of the generated data and just export this.
Feature: You can now export the data from Price Exception and Discount Given reports.
Feature: When exporting the reports the proposed file name is the name of the report instead of before "untitled"
Fixed: Various reports were fixed for minor issues with data that came as unexpected, for example division by zero errors.

Shopify:

Feature: Tags can now contain spaces, also we will export Tags with spaces.

Stock Room:

Feature: Opening stock room is about 2x faster.
Feature: We can now email purchase orders to Suppliers.
Feature: Duplicate Purchase Orders - After selecting a Purchase Order from your Purchases list, choose Duplicate from the Edit menu and you can create a copy of a Purchase Order to send to the same or different vendor.

Store Manager:

Feature: When creating a backup in the File Sheet the current data is appended to the name.
Fixed: The Auto Logout feature found under General/This Mac will log a user out after inactivity based on the number of seconds specified.

Suppliers:

Feature: Notes field has been added and you can import and export the data.
Feature: Website Field has been added and you can import and export the data.
Feature: Duplicate Purchase Orders - After selecting a Purchase Order from your Purchases list, choose Duplicate from the Edit menu and you can create a copy of a Purchase Order to send to the same or different vendor.
Fixed: Editing a supplier and then clicking on other supplier would not change the supplier in case you modified data.
